2015_Day 310: There’s no place like the couch… and cookies

Finally, five weeks after back surgery, darn dog Chloe is back with a vengeance. Back sitting on the couch, back chasing birds and passersby outside. Back to her old shenanigans inside the house, too. Twice in the last week, we’ve come home to find something that was supposed to be on the counter on the floor, empty and/or in pieces. In Wisconsin, I would have thought these prints were made by deer. Here in Texas, a fenced-in backyard means the prints belong to darn dog Chloe.

My last vegetable garden was protected by a chicken wire fence. It kept out the deer and most of the rabbits. And darn dog Chloe. Continue reading

2015_Day 22: Who will win the doggie diet battle?

Chloe keeps a close eye on the food in case I drop – or want to share – my supper.

Supper tonight was another begfest for poor dog Chloe. Her yearly trip to the vet recently showed she has added 5 pounds to her 42-pound frame since we moved to Georgetown. That’s good in the sense that it means she’s adjusted well after a rough start. Bad in the sense that it means cutting down her 1 1/4 cup, twice-a-day feedings to just 1 cup, twice a day.
