It will be a month tomorrow since I thinned my lettuce in hopes that the thinning would spur its growth a bit. Since then, the weather has not been all that cooperative, with doses of below-freezing temperatures plus several rounds of freezing rain.

As you can see in the photo with this post, it has thinned on its own even more. True, some of it does seem to have grown, so maybe not all hope is lost. But while I’m not totally giving up on the lettuce, I do think I’m going to plant a little more in one of my raised beds. Maybe it’s kind of late to be planting lettuce from seed, but I really love fresh lettuce – and I eat a lot of it – so planting a bit more seems the right thing to do.

Update on soil for raised beds: It’s ordered, but the local landscape company can’t deliver it until Monday. So that means I’ll spend the weekend putting the raised beds together, placing them and making sure they’re ready, so on Monday night, I can work on filling them. Hopefully, by mid-week, I should have everything planted.
