Some bean leaves have holes, while others have brown and yellow, almost halo-like spots on them.
I have encountered what I fear is my first serious garden problem. Something is wrong with my beans. After looking at a number of websites, I still can’t figure out what it is.
It started with a few leaves with brown edges, and a few holes in leaves. I haven’t seen any bugs on the tops of the leaves, but I’m wondering if what I thought was dirt on the underside of the leaves could be some type of mite or bug.

At first, I just thought it was dirt on the underside of the leaves. But I think it might be some type of bug or spider.
I’ve gone through every possibility on
this list from Texas A&M, but none really seem to fit it. Could it be a combination of problems?

Whatever it is, I’m guessing I need to figure it out pretty quickly, before it spreads to the nearby crops.

Oh my goodness, the mystery begins for you in your garden.. I too suffer from many mysteries in my garden (Mid May ~ in Ontario, Canada) Last year I spent more time on the internet trying to figure out what was causing the different problems..
Be careful with some of the solutions, as one suggested I sprayed my beans with water, baking soda, solution, it burned the leaves and they all turned black.. I’ve learned to be wiser where my info comes from..
In May I know I’ll be battling against the slugs, and the earwigs.. oh my goodness.. The life of a gardener who doesn’t want to use pesticides.. I look forward to the reasons behind your bean problems .. Take care and I hope they survive for you.. Happy blogging to ya, from Laura ~ A Fellow Gardener.. 🙂

Thanks Laura. Good luck to you, too. I absolutely hate earwigs (had ’em in Wisconsin), but I don’t think they’re here in Texas yet. At least I hope not!
