I’ve been watering in the evening, when the leaves don’t have time to dry before it gets dark, leaving them wet overnight and susceptible to fungus, I’m told. I should be watering in the morning, when the leaves will dry in the warmth of the sun. Makes sense, I guess.
The holes, the nursery man said, are probably from snails.
That’s odd, I said. I haven’t seen any snails.
Do you look at your garden at night? The snails are nocturnal, he said.
Well, I guess that explains it, I said.
Regardless, it doesn’t sound like I have anything to worry about, as long as I watch when I water. I hope so. That would be a really easy solution.
