Two-thirds of the way into my #fitat50 challenge, I wish I could say I’m exceeding all my expectations. My goal was to lose 10 to 13 pounds and get in shape by my 50th birthday. I’ve lost 5, maybe 6 on a day the scale likes me.
Truthfully, I expected I would have lost more weight after exercising five times a week for almost eight weeks. Not to mention eating better. Ten years ago, I probably would have lost at least 10 pounds following the same regimen. Oh, how your body changes from age 40 to 50. Not in a good way either.
While I haven’t lost as much weight as I thought I would, I do have to say that I can tell certain parts of my body are looking better. Specifically my upper legs and arms. I can definitely tell they’re getting toned, thanks to my Daily Burn workouts. It’s officially shorts weather here in central Texas, and I feel a lot better today about wearing shorts in public than I would have two months ago. So, at least there’s that.
In less than 30 days I’ll be 50 – and hopefully in a little bit better shape than I am today. I don’t plan on giving up on my #fitat50 challenge, and I’d like to think that it will be a new start for the second half-century of my life.
Speaking of that milestone, I’m looking for suggestions on how I should spend my 50th birthday. I’ve never really made a big deal about my adult birthdays (except my 18th), and I’m not sure I should this one either. Any ideas?
Yay! A great goal for the half-century mark. I would spend mine outdoors, but then you probably are already going to do that. How about….a bikini? Is that adventurous enough?

It’s definitely adventurous enough, Shannon, but I’ll have to see as I get closer. Not quite sure I’m ready for that. I do want to spend a lot of the day outside though. I was thinking a botanical garden or something like that would be fun, too.

Ha! That comfort zone is a difficult one to step out of. How about a botanical garden…in Hawaii? That would be way more fun than any in Texas…
