Well, not really. I’m thinking that the two tiny pumpkins I saw today on Wanda are two entirely different pumpkins than the ones that were there before. Continue reading

2015_Day 270: Basil a pleasant surprise

Of everything I planted this summer, the thing I had the fewest expectations for was the basil. It was pretty much an afterthought; it wasn’t on my list when I visited the garden centers to pick out the flowers and vegetables I would plant. Continue reading
2015_Day 269: Darn dog Chloe’s darn back problems

What a difference a week makes. Last Sunday, daughter and I were in emergency pet care with Chloe, our beagle/Australian cattle mix dog who was having severe back problems. So severe that her whole body shook and she winced every time she tried to sit or lie down. Continue reading
2015_Day 268: Potted zinnias nearing their end

2015_Day 264: My pumpkin is missing!

I’m bummed. Took a look at Wanda (my wandering pumpkin) after supper tonight, only to find that the tiny pumpkin that was on the vine is no longer there. I think I see the dried little stump where it was, but it’s not anywhere on the mulch or grass nearby. Continue reading
2015_Day 263: Crape myrtle still flowering

“Hey, I see your bush is finally blooming,” husband said this weekend after cutting the grass. “Bush?” I asked him. “You mean the crape myrtle in the back yard? It’s had flowers on it off and on for a month now.” Continue reading
2015_Day 262: Thank you flowers

So much for a fall tomato crop — at least any that were grown from seed. A week after I transplanted them from pots into the garden, they are looking pretty sad. Continue reading
