We were supposed to be traveling to the Dallas area this weekend for a soccer tournament. But (another) round of wet weather put the kibosh on that. While daughter loves playing soccer in the rain, methinks she would have been a tad bit cold, given temperatures were in the 40s (windchills in 30s) where the games would have taken place. 2015_Day 330: Thankful Thursday
I am very thankful for everyone and everything in my life. Husband, daughter and I shared a wonderful Thanksgiving meal with my father-in-law and darn dog Chloe (because she’s family, too). Continue reading
2015_Day 329: Out of sight…
So seriously, how does the back wall of an oven get so dirty? I, for one, never really look at it. I mean, I don’t stick my head in my oven too often. Never, in fact, unless I’m considering cleaning it. Continue reading
2015_Day 328: As ready as I can be
Turkey defrosting? Check. Potatoes ready to peel and cook? Check. Ingredients for stuffing and pumpkin pie? Check. I’m ready to cook Thanksgiving dinner. Or will be, once the turkey is defrosted (eta sometime before Thursday morning). Continue reading
2015_Day 327: Just what I need on a Monday
What a life darn dog Chloe has now that her back has healed from surgery! Most of the time she’s high energy, but the cooler weather has made her snuggle more in search of warmth. Continue reading
2015_Day 326: Frost takes toll
Geraniums don’t like the cold. At least my geranium didn’t like the 30-degree low temperature our area of central Texas was subjected to early this morning. Probably going to look even worse tomorrow morning, as similar lows are expected. Continue reading
2015_Day 325: Soup’s on
Have you ever noticed how the dish you make never looks quite as good as the picture in the recipe? Well, at least that’s true for me, most of the time. Frankly, I don’t care too much as long as whatever I’m making tastes good. That’s the real goal in the long run anyway, right? I mean, it’s not like I’m being judged on a Food Network show or anything. Continue reading
2015_Day 324: The birds, they are LOUD
Someday, the grackles will rule the world. They have already taken over numerous parking lots, happy to congegate near grocery stores and fast food places. Really anywhere there is trash for food and power lines and/or trees on which to perch. Continue reading
2015_Day 323: The greenhouse question
I’m thinking of digging out my small greenhouse to see if I can save these tomato plants from impending doom. I haven’t decided whether I have the gumption to set it up around/over the raised bed and anchor it to the ground. Because if I don’t, it won’t take but a day or so for it to find a new home in the neighbor’s yard. Continue reading
2015_Day 322: Growing season ending
I took a good long look at what’s left of the greenery in my flower beds tonight. After looking at forecast lows for later this week, I’m afraid it won’t be around much longer. Continue reading
